The 1.8t version of the TT can be pushes to around 285 hp and 270 ft lbs of torque. That would include turbo replacement as the stock turbo is only good to about 230 hp. Breaking the 300hp barrier would require very serious engine upgrades. I've driven modestly modded 1.8t's and I have a 2.3 with intake and 3" jt from the turbo back. My opinion was that the 1.8 wasn't even close. Could it have been a new 3.2 v6 TT? Those have a bunch of power to start with. or Maybe your car needs a little maintenance.
