Dean,
Great summary. I'd say in a T7 (to first order), water injection will allow you to get more performance if you are knock limited now. Knock limited in a stock T7 means that you are octane limited. There is no other way with the standard ECU map that you can get into a situation where timing or boost cause you to knock. The map is that conservative (and gives tuners something to play with). Water injection will add a few points to the effective octane of your gas because it slows the progagation of the combustion flame, reducing the tendancy to knock.
So the best you can expect with water injection on an unmodified T7 is the ability to run a grade of fuel less than premium. Hardly worth the bother.
If you can get a new ECU program, then water injection will have much more dramatic benefits.
