95' 9000 CS automatic. I bought this car a few years ago as a beater for a ridiculous price. Literally drove the crap out of her until one day last January, decided that all of these 9000 guys are having it way too easy buying these simple T-5 software upgrades. I think to myself, "why not me too?" I too had been struggling with making my C900TC not only faster, but reliable as well. This is really the trick with these old C900 sweethearts, you can only make so many performance upgrades before you find yourself spiraling out of control, replacing every thing that isn't willing to co-exist with the new found torque levels. So then, what the hell? I'll try a differnt approach with the daily driver, I'll clean-up this 9000 and try the Swedish ECU method.
I converted the transmission to 5 speed, upgraded the turbo with a bone stock Aero TDO4, bought a JT downpipe, left the stock 2.5 Saab exhaust alone behind the cat. Now I was ready for the special ingredient: The infamous, the awesome, the almighty, the "Can't get this shit eating grin off my face" making SQR stage 4 software! Result: 270HP/325Tq at the wheels. To summarize my ridiculous editorial here, a healthy bone-stock Aero with SQR stage 4, and a 3" downpipe is all you will need to more than frighten your local neigborhood women and children. I have owned plenty of C900's, and while I will always love them, the fact remains that they take a whole lot of parts and constant tweaking to make them fast, but not as fast or nearly as reliable as my Silver Slut 9000 with about $650 worth of ECU/exhaust upgrades!
(Looks is a totally different ball game. In terms of pure beauty, a nicely modified C900 takes the crown-hands-down. Just look at Taylor's little red Senorita there, friggin beautiful. :o)
