I'm not sure if you should be too worried about oil pressure at those #s, and may not only be due to bearing clearance. YOur picktup tube screen may be blocked a bit (from oil chain guide rubber) etc....

I'm not sure if I've ever seen 38-40psi hot (as in 180F oil temp) in my 2.0K since 60 K km! Saab manual states a minimum od 38.9psi at 80C engine temperature (170F). Does anybody know if this is referring to coolant temp, or oil temperature? The manual does not elaborate. I think swedecar long ago mentioned coolant temp in relation to operating temp.

But nonetheless, rebuilding is not expensive in your own garage/basement, by all means go for it! I'm doing mine next winter. She has 300K km and is still smooth and quiet. I should have plastigauged while I had the sump off but that is another story lying on your back;-). Oil pressure unchanged since I can remember: 50psi cold at first idle, up to 60 psi after 2000rpm when cold while driving (more in winter), 42-45psi at 2000rpm right before thermo opens (about 89 degrees) the first time. 2000rpm at 180F OIL temperature is about 33psi, rising to about 48-50psi after 3000RPM. 12psi idle. As I said hasn't changed in at least 100K miles. Still quiet.....but by all means does not mean it does not need a rebuild in time;-)

good luck with your project!

steve
