Sounds like you have it set too high. In the lower gears, are you getting wheel spin?
The motorized T7 TB will fight the high pressures and you might get a cel or limp home mode(self clears when shutdown and restarted) if the ECU gets frustrated.
So you can get some power increases, but the main intent is better dynamic boost response. When you push the system with the SMBC, there is no magic point where you know that its right. I would definately not put the pressure into the red with the lower gears.
With my 03 9-5 Aero, it is not set too high, but I am all over the traction control in the lower gears, so more torque does not mean more speed. With the SMBC, a low restriction air fitler really makes a big differnce*. The stock boost control's boost delay will mask the advantages of a low restriction filter.
* compared to a new Saab paper filter.
