Hi Steve, what determines the rise in rate is the difference in area from the original diaphragm that's built into the parent regulator we modify to the new larger one we add. The percentage of difference in our units is actually 1.67, therefore the 1.7 you mentioned rounded off. A standard single diaphragm fuel pressure regulator is just a 1 to 1 rate as there is nothing there to increase the rate. Our latest RRFPR's can be setup 4 different ways! (1) The standard full 1.67 rise in rate, remember this works in reverse when vacuum is present which is great for larger injectors during idle conditions. (2) Just as a straight 1 to 1 but still the adjustable base fuel pressure. (3) Same as a 1 to 1 but a rise in rate only when vacuum is present (for even larger injectors). (4) An adjustable rate from 1 to 1 to 1.67 to 1. Bosch doesn't recommend running their injectors over 75 psi so working backwards a full 1.67 rise in rate setup set at a 41.5 psi base pressure (vacuum line disconnected) would come out at 75 psi with 20 psi boost pressure, 41.5 + (20 x 1.67) = 75. Enough fuel at 75 psi boost levels with a rising rate regulator isn't a problem (with the right injectors) so after dialing everything in we usually end up at around 40 psi (base pressure) with the vacuum line disconnected.
