Viggen at Porsche event Posted by MTAERO [Email] (#2408) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MTAERO) on Tue, 21 Sep 2004 20:34:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just finished a two day Porsche Club event and I brought my Viggen along. Since I was instructing , I was in a car every session from 9 AM to 5 PM both days. Four of the sessions were in My Viggen about 150 miles total. I mentioned that I have a piston/ring problems but I decided to run it anyway. Probably down about 50 hp from when I first got it three weeks ago.
I had just bought new dunlop R compound tires and had them shaved so I mostly wanted to try them. The tires were great, I had to adjust the koni's to full hard to get the car to behave on our pitchy narrow course. Top speed was just over 130 MPH.
Other cars I instructed in and drove at race pace were;
2002 Porsche twin turbo
2004 Suburau WRX STI
2002 Honda S 2000
1988 944 Turbo (some Mods)
2000 BMW M Coupe
2004 Porsche GT 3 right seat only, But 20 or thirty laps cat and mouse with him in mine and the other cars.
The GT 2 wasn't able to make it this time or we would have some good war stories.
The S 2000 was the most fun to drive, I don't count the expensive porsches as toys shouldn't cost over $100,000.
Now for the Question??????????????????
What do I do for my Viggen? One cylinder is at 120 psi and the others are at 170. I'm inclined to swap it out for something more robust rather than just rebuild. Any suggestions?
