944 and spheres Posted by Kevin K [Email] (#374) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Kevin K) on Thu, 23 Sep 2004 14:43:22 In Reply to: Re: How was driving the 944T?, MTAERO [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 22 Sep 2004 09:10:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I used to track a slightly mod'd 924T .... one of the most forgiving cars to push hard. I was pushing an instructor in a 944 thru an off camber 4th gear corner, and seeing his back end slowly hang out a bit excessively, rear wheels spinning, .... was like in slow motion! The 924/944 series had the transaxle in the rear, for a high yaw-inertia effect. My 93FD mazda also has 50/50 lke the 924/944, but weight is much more centered, and back can kick out quickly.
I think it takes some big spheres to be an instructor. I've seen several get banged up by students. Be careful.
