The newer ones are reputed to be stronger. I popped a 91 on a hole shot in 1st, and have come to believe that instantaneous torque is no good, particularly in the lower gears. What rpm did you roll on the throttle when it popped? Do you have dyno sheet, or perhaps a guess as to the torque figure at this rpm? I am running a rebuilt 91 tranny now with a little over 200wtq, but my turbo is big and laggy and doesn't start to pull untill 3500 or so. Maybe I will focus on a stronger top end charge rather than trying to reduce turbo lag.
Sorry for your misfortune,
Keep up the great work
Andy

P.S: If you manage that AWD C900, I would love to see some RWD suspension accomodation pieces be produced. Even if they are a one-off, I would like to try a Skyline-powered RWD C900 in the future. What are your thoughts for susp setup in the rear?
