A recast with a stronger material or ribs that would renforce the transmision would be ideal, but very expensive. A "roll cage" is an intresting idea that would help prevent the case from flexing much like ribs on a casting would. The transmision for my 76 99 ems is expremely beefed up due to ribs on the case and the rear diffrentail cover being cased not stamped metal. I would suspect that the gears would be significantly stronger if you could reduce the flex in the case which would inturn maintain the contact surface area of the gear teeth. Another option that some have sugested is a stronger diferetial cover to help reduce the case flex. Not sure how one would go about the "roll cage" but it is an intersting idea.
