This weekend I spent some quality time with my beloved 1996 900 SET. I gathered the courage, (thanks to your suggestions in these boards),and I hacked my Air box and added a 3"intake to my air box using a PVC pipe. It came out beautiful! I was fortunate to locate a foot of black PVC (I never seen this before) and it was the exact same color as the box. When all was said and done you have to look really closely to notice the change. The black RVT made it all come together wonderfully.

I also remove my turbo silencer, which was uneventful (other that the total destruction of the silencer). Last but not least, I upgraded my BPV valve to the Forge DV006 25mm valve.

At first I was not impressed with the entire set up, as I tested all the changes in street conditions and I was hard pressed to notice any differences. The new forge valve initially seemed to counter act my Dawes Devices MBC. On first gear, I could not longer boost into the red without going into 4-5K rpms. This was a change for me as previously I could boost into the begining of the red at around 3000 rpms. However, once I got to the highway, I was dumbfounded!! The boost now stays in the red for what seems like an eternity!! Any gear from 2-5th is arguably more responsive, seems to spool faster and stays deeper into the red for longer than ever before! It is actually quite exiting! All of this fun came at the cost of a moderate increase in sound. It is certainly subtle, as I can hardly tell the difference in sound. The performance is not leap and bounds better, but it sure seems to be better. Fuel Economy went down about 1 mile per gallon to about 26.4 mpg.

I am starting to think what to do next, I am in the midst of finishing up my suspension work before going for the next round of mods. I am thinking to follow in the following order:

1. Open the throttle body elbow.
2. Add a 3" down pipe (does this necessitate that I also change the rest of the exhaust? I will be using a catalytic converter for sure, as I live in CA).
3. Upgraded intercooler. (Are the viggen intercooler just air to air?)
4. ECU upgrade.
5. Anything else you can suggest...

We will see what follows these changes! Comments and suggestions greatly appreciated.

Current mods: Rear Sway bar, Front Subframe bar, Steering Clamp, Steering brace, Koni shocks all around + KYB strut mounts (I will install these shortly), 3" air box, Forge BOV, Silencer removed, 17inch 2004 Aero wheels with Falcon tires.
