My custom ecu needed the latest Saab software upgrades to help the T-7 System better deal with knock issues and be more friendly to the DI cassette. These individual upgrades could have been installed with the dealer tech 2 but he found it more expediant to do a complete reflash, essentially including all Saab software changes just as if my ECU had come out of the factory that day. The car ran very well after the Saab upgrades but I lost all the performance enhanments I paid over $1000 for in 99.
You should get the software upgrades with any ecu when they are available from Saab, but level with your dealer and make sure he knows what you have and don't want changed.
