A properly tuned chip will make your engine run as it is suppose to - this means correct A/F ratios, timing etc. If you run more boost, have more efficient intake and exhaust then your engine will be breathing in more air and the ECU may or may not compensate appropriately the correct amount of fuel (most probably not that well). This will cause lean running AND this will see the temps go up. A chipped ECU will give more fuel as its needed (make the engine run as it should) and this will in turn keep temps within tolerances as you won't be running lean (or detonating in some cases). I more powerful engine is bound to produce higher temps, thats a given. The chips are burned to run correct closed loop operation, WOT and all areas in between, they are NOT burned to run the engine hot and hard - that all relies on your right foot. A hotter climate will raise intake temps but a PROPERLY tuned chip will factor this in. I like to tune my car on the hottest days of the year as then I know they will be right for the rest of the year.
