A couple of years ago I posted that a n/a would beat a turbo for some time off of the line. Especially an 8v n/a over a 16v or 16v turbo. This is simply a matter of basic physics - inertia. There is less inertia to overcome with an 8v. Of course, this idea was pooh-pooed from some.
I've owned 8v and 16v N/A OG 900's and my current NG 900 SE. I can easily say my 8v was faster off of the line than my other cars.
This hit home last week when Mr. Redneck in a Dodge pick-up truck beat me in my 900 SE Turbo. As the turbo was finally kicking in, I was beside him, but my lane ended. Another 50 feet and he would have been spanked.
As for me, I like a good performing N/A, but then again, having that torque hammer hit you when the boost kicks on is also fun.
Take care.
