All fuel pumps incorporate a check valve or they would all drain back. Unless fuel is draining externally out of the line between carb and pump, which you would probably notice, it is draining back to the tank because the pump's check valve is not working. An added check valve would do the job if you could find a tiny one compatible with the line size, but I suggest just replacing the pump.
Airtex E8016S is readily available and has woked well for me.
Query, do you mean to say this does not happen when you start the car cold in the morning?
