If it were my car, I'd want to drain out all that three-year-old gas (plus any other crud that comes out with it) and replace it with fresh. As Alex suggested, you should make sure you've got a fully-charged battery and crank a bit to fill the carb float bowl.
I'd also want to change the oil before starting and take some steps to pre-oil the engine, so it won't be running completely dry of lubrication during its first few moments of renewed life. This can be done by disconnecting the ignition (pull the center wire out of the distributor) and cranking the engine with the starter, which will also pump some gas to the float bowl at the same time.
If you'd like to pre-oil more thoroughlygh, take a look at the 'Wrenching' section on Chris Moberg's VintageSaab site (dubyah dubyah dubyah dot vintagesaab dot com slash sonett slash) He's got an interesting idea for pumping oil through the engine by using a modified distributor drive shaft and an electric drill.
