Are you taking into account the effect of the differential? If you are turning only one wheel, the opposite wheel will turn the other direction as opposed to the engine turning due to the effect of the differential. To get the engine to turn, both drive wheels will need to be turned in unison the same direction, and even then you may not be able to do it as the gearing ratios in the tranny are not in your favor trying to turn the engine over in this manner.
