Hourglass isolators

Where else in the exhaust system are the hourglass isolators supposed to be used? I thought for sure that they would be used to mount the mufflers, but the 96 mounting kit I got from Rendparts had isolators that were too small (threaded shaft diameter) for the nuts that came welded to the mufflers. Does someone make a bigger hourglass isolator?

For the muffler mount, we just bought 2” stainless steel bolts that matched the threads in the muffler nuts, and then found some fat (1/2” thick) rubber washers to go between the muffler and car body.
