Reviving bumping this old thread.
These tiny drain tube designs were also common for early sunroofs in the 1970's; it was easy to snake the skinny drain tubes down the "A" pillars of a new car in assembly or retrofit. They all worked when new, but the diameter of the tube is so small that eventually the tube will plug up simply from dirt in the drain water slowly adding up over rain/drain/dry cycles. I've fixed a number of these where the plug was just mud that had built up over time and the small tube not only made this possible but also didn't provide adequate water pressure/flow to constantly flush the tube.
Definitely don't use a stiff wire coat hanger to clean these out. It's the right diameter but can puncture the tube (ask me how I know . . . :-). Always wet the inside and blow out with compressed air. In applications with lots of space like the Sonett, you can also size up the flexible tube to something bigger. Like that the smaller entry hole will be the only place for blockage and if you clean the leaves out regularly your trunk will stay dry.
