Drain for Heater Box?

We're weather proofing our Sonett: it had a wee drip in the rear from the plugged up drain tubes in the hatch. The other source of moisture appears to come from the heat exchanger. Given the wide open air inlet on the hood, I assumed that the heater box would also have a drain tube similar to the rear hatch. Nothing is shown in the manual, and in taking the fan, heater core and shrouds off lo-and-behold there's no drain tube either! On the fan side of the heat exchanger box there is a drain hole through the fender, but under the heater core it looks like inbound rain is simply designed to drip into the cabin?

Can this be right or can one of you gurus point me in the direction of the drain please?
