Hello,

original V4 engine colours:
'67 till mid'68 (open deck engine): silver (hence so-called "silver motor")
'68-'69: blue (from what I know lighter Ford blue)
70'-'80: black

I had the engine in my Saab 96 V4 rally car painted red with some heat resistant rattle can, like 20 years ago.

In the end, I would look for heat resistant paint (up to 200°C is enough for the engine block). Which colour you choose is depending on your taste and availability.
