How to over volt the wiper motor? Posted by BradW [Email] In Reply to: Re: RainX!, eric in vermont |
RainX? Never tried, but will now pick some up on the next parts run! Funny that a snow car from Sweden would have such weak-sister wipers.
Most electric motors can tolerate some over voltage. Are there any electrical geniuses on here that could suggest how? Something a rewinding service could do? Or would that require modifications/machining of the commutator?
I notice that low speed on the wipers runs through the wiper relay, whereas high speed is just a direct 12 volts from the switch to the motor. Is the relay stepping down voltage to get low speed? If the motor could run continuously at say, 14 volts, or if the motor could be re-wound to be a 9 volt motor, that would be enough extra oomph.
