Hi!

I would check how it behaves if you change for the recommended jets you mentionend. Those are quite sensible and can make a noticeable difference.

Have you compared to the jets which are inside the old carburetor?
DGEV and DFV aren't that different.

And why not rebuild the old DFV?
Usually it only takes a set of new seals and maybe a membrane if it has one. There are complete rebuild kits available for those carbs (at least over here in Europe).

Ignition timing at 1500rpm sounds a bit off. It should be checked and set at idle (850-900rpm iirc).
It would be good to check the CO in the exhaust, either with a CO-tester or if possible with a wideband lambda sensor (I'm using one from Inovate with an external display).
