All good points Erik.

The jets in the DFV we had changed to match the exact Ashcraft specifications. They're the same in the DFV as the DGV, so we might just clean those up and reuse. There are rebuild kits available in the U.S. for the DFV but they cost nearly the same as the brand new Thundermingo knock-off and since I was in a hurry and just wanted a cheap and cheerful fix to tide us over until the engine swap, I thought we'd just throw the new carb on and drive off into the sunset. Ha ha on me . . . it's always something more complicated!

The old carbs (DFV or DGV) are so much smaller without the universal choke mechanisms that now come with the modern versions.
