Slyde--you're right it's probably shaping up to springing for the MSS.
To answer your questions: Yes, I have an MSS setup, but for the V4 Sonett II, the older body style. My car has a single grommet on the right side. However, I have an exhaust that is a simple y going into a straight pipe that includes a flattened glasspack. The fit is pretty good, and from most anyone out there you'll here these things will last a very, very long time. Besides, Jack is a great guy; keep him in business!
Yes, it's a little too loud for me. My previous three Sonett V4s had the stock Saab exhaust composed of a front manifold resonator with a straight pipe going back to a rear resonator tucked up inside the right rear well. These setups were very quiet, and the fit of the system was nice--one little problem: the things barely lasted two years in the rear resonator--that's why the originals are no longer available. And also, they robbed power.
My advice is to call MSS, get the catalog, which now contains color pictures of the exhaust pieces. Then buy the dual exhaust setup for your car. When you get your pieces, take them to a custom shop and have them do the rear treatment the way you like it, perhaps with a little more glasspack. The shop can even get you some nice chromed exhaust tips, which I bet they'd be to be happy to sell you! That's the best way to get the correctly designed scavenging y front section and the desired look out the back you're looking for.
"Fill those apertures!"--a good rule to live by!
