My 69 has two brake switches. The mechanical, normally-open, physically pressed-to-close one near the floor at the pedal arm is for the low brake fluid warning. If the pedal can go low enough to close this contact, you'll probably know it about 20 milliseconds before the red "FB" warning lamp in the speedometer housing illuminates.
The brake lamp switch on mine is a normally-open, pressurize-to-close hydraulic pressure switch down in one of the two brake lines.
