I have had good luck with Airtex E8012, available under that number from Napa, and the same or similar number from many other suppliers. Mine is mounted underhood to a bolt hole in the L side of the block at the rear, that is an inch or so forward of the side brace that goes to L inner fender, and 2 or 3 inches below, BUT not mounted directly. The pump bracket is mounted to a piece of 38" thick rubberized fabric (a couple of layers of conveyor belt material would do fine, from a bearing supply house), and that in turn mounted to the block, for vibration insulation. This places the pump conveniently for plumbing to the original fuel line. I have a small in-line filter before the pump, that screws directly into it and has a hose nipple at the inlet end; and a conventional metal can filter about 1-1/2" diameter and 2" long after the pump. This also gives easy access for replacement as opposed to mounting back by the tank as often suggested.
Instructions with electric pumps often advise mounting close to the tank and as low as possible. Mine is neither but it has not been an issue.
