Freeze plugs Posted by Craig K [Email] (#1834) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Craig K) on Sat, 16 Jun 2007 13:17:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I started to replace the freeze plugs in the block of a 1.7 engine going into my 68. I purchased 1.5" plugs from Napa and the first one seemed to go in a little too easy, but I haven't replaced one in about 30 years and am not sure how tight they should be. I also found out from Napa that they have many different metric sizes and since most everything on the engine is metric that could be my problem. The 1.5" ones are only about .005" smaller than the ones that came out so I figured they were a good match, but maybe used ones lose their original pr-installation size. Anybody have a definitive answer?
Thanks
