I found an LED 3rd brake light at Autozone 7 or 8 years ago that works great. I was able to mount it directly to the glass of the rear window with two-sided tape. With a little filing the "feet", they fit through the holes in the metal strip at the top of the window. Also had to accomodate the curve of the window by slightly filing where the feet attached to the light, but it was not difficult.

The LEDs light up much faster (and brighter) than the regular brake lights and gets it a bit higher. Sorry, I don't have the P/N and the car is in storage so I can't take a picture to better show the effect. I will try and post one when I get over to my mother-in-laws garage where it sits, safely away from the salt they love to use here in Ohio.
