First, I want to thank eric in vermont for what I'm sure will be very useful information and a gracious welcome. He may have already enabled me to address the clutch and brake master issues. Thanks also to Eric Cartman for the exhaust schematic. I might have it in one of the shop manuals (it's been a long time) but it will be really helpful if I elect to try to re-fabricate something like the stock system.
That said (and I think it's important) I have a bizillion questions for the collective wisdom. Exhaust system issues have been well discussed, and I've learned much. I'm thinking of replacing my present carb' (I think it's a Solex) with another, and am curious about others' experience.
I've rebuilt a Solex before and found it simple and elegant but sluggish on acceleration. I've rebuilt a FoMoCo (Zenith) carb' and found it more responsive, but complicated and tempermental. Lately I've been thinking about a Holley originally made for what are now vintage Mustangs. Their reputation seems good, and kits shouldn't be a problem going forward. How I've learned (thanks to eric in vermont) that there is a Weber available too, and is available from Jack Ashcraft. I know that eric has both, so here's my question:
Which of the two latter carb's is the better choice for a high performance street vehicle? Is my choice of c-heads a factor in this?
