Thanks Sue,
I spoke at length with Jack yesterday pm. He was really good about getting back to me and very talkative and informative about everything I need. We talked of Webers vs. Holleys, cam shafts and he gave me a good line (White Post in VA) for the rebuilt brake master.
I decided to get the performance (and hardened) cyl. heads, the complete Weber kit, the clutch master, and the re-machined cam shaft together with a set of rebuild gaskets and a manual. I have the shop manuals, but if he's written these himself, I think there's' more to learn.
Total cost: about $2k. I'll never look at this again, and only the brake master remains.
He also gave me so great tips on creating an exhaust system which will be workable and also quiet.
He was also quick with e-mail; we're both pilots and thought KSPI (Springfield, IL) elevation was 1,597. It's actually 597. We were both 1,000 feet off. I e-mailed Jack with this joint mistake, and received a quick answer that he would jet the carb for sea-level to 4,000 anyway. LOL.
Now I just need to get a fire under the folks in Batavia, IL. I need the cores before I can get anything back.
Cheers.
