Me Again,

Thank you very much for those who replied to my first message. Two of you
mentioned changing items which I have already replaced and forgot to
mention earlier. I had a similar problem a couple years ago but a mechanic
friend of mine discovered that THAT problem was due to a bad Mass Air Flow
Sensor. The symptoms included running VERY poorly (on 1 or 2 cyl's) and
belching clouds of black smoke... After replacing that bad sensor with a
rebuilt one, it ran flawlessly.

A month or so ago I replaced the fuel filter thinking that THAT may have
been the problem... no change. Also in the process I assured myslef that
the fuel pump was working just fine.

This afternoon I had nothing better to do, and figured I really didn't have
much to loose, so the inner child in me decided to take apart the
Electronic Control Unit (the one under the dash on the passenger side).
After carefully prying off the protective cover, and unscrewing a screw, I
was able to free the main board. A few seconds later, I discovered that
one of the resistors on the board had an abnormal bulge in the middle and a
large crack in the side...

Hmmmm.....

Well, I dug through a box of dead electrical equipment I've been keeping
for such an occasion. Unfortunately neither the box nor Radio Shack had
the right resistor, so I'm still not 100% sure thats the problem...
However, on the way to Radio Shack, everytime the car would cut out on me,
I'd hear a little click from the exposed Electronic Control Unit...

Hmmmm.....

I'll let you all know the verdict as soon as I find anything out.
Thanks for all your help! :)
