C900 Leaking Head Gasket Question
Posted by wittnam (more from wittnam) on Thu, 15 Mar 2001 09:36:46
Vehicle: 1990 900S 86k miles, auto trans.
Problem: Leaking headgasket
Scenario: Second headgasket in this car, first one replaced at 28k miles by dealer, under warranty. Mechanic tells me now that headgasket is leaking on driver's side between cylinder 2 and 3. I don't recall having to add coolant or any drips on the ground or garage floor. Engine has never been overheated.
Question: When I replace this headgasket, do I replace it with one from the dealer or an aftermarket one, or is there a difference? If there is a difference, please give me a brand name to buy. And, what's it cost to have a headgasket replaced? Anything else come to mind that I should do while this thing's apart?
Thanks in advance.
