Dealer or aftermarket? Depends on the quality of the aftermarket product
(how long is a piece of string?).

The head may need skimming or resurficing (ie. making the surface flat) which
means some metal is removed ... hence compression increases ... hence more
blown headgaskets etc. Your dealer may have resurficed the head ... (gets
complicated). You may get away without resurficing.

Unlikely to see coolant leaking ... by then it is too late ... if coolant
leaks it will be when it is pressurised. Maybe there are signs on the engine
block (blue colour from antifreeze for example).

Cannot help you about costs.
