Grinding steering and ticking interior temp. sensor
Posted by Derek Shaffer (more from Derek Shaffer) on Thu, 5 Apr 2001 09:29:47
Hi all, Over the past month my '91 9000T has developed a grinding sound when I turn the wheels towards either lock, and then an occasional pulsing grind as the car moves with the wheel turned. Doesn't seem to make much of a difference which direction the wheels are turned. I'm suspecting CV joints (I've heard them sound much worse before in other cars). Sound reasonable? There are no other symptoms, such as steering rack 'morning sickness'. Also, during the winter, after starting with the interior cold, a ticking sound would emanate from the area of the dash right behind the interior temperature sensor. It would start as soon as the key turned to the #2 position, and would go away when the interior warmed up. Any ideas? Is there a relay back there? The ACC seemed to work fine despite this...
Thanks in advance, -Derek Shaffer '91 9000T 5sp 134K
