Thanks for all the replies to my question on 5th gear problems.

I took the afternoon off so I would have time with the sun out to see
waht I was doing.
Started at the wrong end, normal for me, by removing the shift lever and
checking and cleaning, ended up being the taper or crush pin where the
external rod meets the rod that comes from the trani. Nut almost fell
off in my hand.

Tightened it all works fine now.

Cort '85 900, picked up new 18 years ago next month and still running.
