Any Alternative to Special Clutch Tool?
Posted by Barry E. Muller (more from Barry E. Muller) on Thu, 22 Jul 1999 23:07:56
First I would like to thank those who responded to my earlier post regarding diagnosing the cluth problem in my '87 900S.
Further inspection seems to indicate a failure of the clutch master cylinder. The slave may be bad too, but I won't know until I replace the master cylinder (MC) and attempt to bleed the system. If I can't bleed the system after replacing the MC, I will need to use the special long-handeled saab tool to disengage the cluth so I can remove the whole sheband to get at the slave cylinder. I got a quote of over $100 for this tool, which, considering I hope only ever to do this job once, is a bit too much for me.
So, is there any way to replace this 'special tool' with a modified pry bar or the like?
Thanks,
bem
