Sorry to hear your odyssey, it's dangerous indeed in bad weather.
Your Saab Dealer is obliged to accommodate a Saab Safety issue, so please
request as much before your next scheduled maintenance visit. Saabs wipers
are generally good and durable, so demanding this from Saab would be
appropriate.

Over three years ago my regular Saab blades were wearing out and
intentionally replaced with (Wal-Mart) silicone blade inserts. It's been one
of the best changes ever - no more streaking, always clean wipes and these
hardly ever freeze to the windshield glass during an icy winter's day.
