Hey !

Don't forget that the crankshaft will turn when you are trying to turn the
pulley bolt ! It will be wanting to turn counterclockwise - the opposite of
the direction of normal engine rotation. I don't quite understand why, but
turning the crank backwards is not supposed to be good.

If you don't use the starter-bump method, make sure the flywheel teeth are
properly blocked. There's a special tool for this I believe, or some
ingenuity is needed. A regular-sized flat-head screwdriver WILL NOT
suffice. Let's see: I weigh 155lb, and my whole bodyweight (static)
perched on the end of a 3-foot breaker bar didn't budge that bolt. That
means that more than 450lb-ft of torque was necessary to break the sucker...
The next time I do this, I'll be cranking that starter all the way !
