Re: 1990 900 Turbo Anti-Lock Brake Question

To add my two thoughts on the subject,

I was not impressed by ABS on one wet road where I felt the brakes were
spending longer locked than unlocked. ALthough the car was driveable it was
not stopping fast enough and it spend too long skidding. In panick I
resorted to my old 900 technique of pumping the pedal as hard and as fast as
I could.

I feel the car stopped faster by pumping the pedal (admittedly the ABS also
joined in at every press).

A car is supposed to stop the quickest if the wheels can be kept at the
position just before they lock. Locked wheels do not stop the car as well.
>From the original question it seems to me that the person felt his
car was not stopping fast enough (same for me). I add that it spends too
long in the locked position but I have not driven any other car with ABS.

Can any people who have used other cars give an idea of how other (non SAAB)
abs brakes behave?

I am interested as my car is still under manufacturer's warranty plus a
dealer's guarantee.
