Help with new noise and odor
Posted by EddieBob (more from EddieBob) on Sun, 26 Sep 1999 21:43:23
My 1992 Saab 9000 has a sound coming out of the air conditioner compressor
that is high pitched, almost like a tweet, and pulsates very rapidly. This
noise only happens when the car is started after it has had time to
completely cool down. It goes away after a few minutes. We are still having
air conditioner weather, and I’ve been leaving the air conditioner controls
on when I shut down, so the ac switch is on when I start.

Accompanying this new sound is a new odor (slight) coming out of the air
conditioner dash vents after start up. It doesn’t really smell like something
electrical, more like a rubber burning. It goes away in a few minutes too.

Since this car is the straight 9000, it has the manual climate controls.

I bought my car new, and it’s going to turn over 100,000 miles this week.

Anyone have any ideas what is wrong with my car?
Thanks,

Eddie Bob
