Sounds as if the alternator is not charging.  You may just need new
brushes for the alternator depending on the wear on its whatisitsname
shaft thing :-)

Does the charge light come on when the car is running (it may be faint
if the alternator is only partially charging). Make sure the bulb
works. It should come when you turn the key but before you start the
engine.

Hope someone else may have a different idea.
