sorry to hear about that- I am assuming at this point the trouble is not due to your neglect or abuse. I am also assuming the car was not bought used. silly question but you may be starting too high in the food chain with saab corporate. Write down in brief what exactly is wrong with the car-in laymans terms, then separately list your out of pocket expenses, Do not list that you missed dinner with someone important..etc. then write down what you feel is fair opportunity to reconcile the matter. aim a little high so that neg. can be considered. Loaner? next right down with it why it's important the dealer handle the situation from locally- you fib a little bit hear. Basically remind the dealer why you put your faith and dollars in electing to buy the car from his dealership. remind him you were considering an audi? Put this in writing and please use spell check & gramatic check. Next call the dealer, asked to speak to the owner- be prepared to be handled by the Gate keeper. Blow through this by asking for an appointment, if none is available offer to take the owner to lunch- don't worry he'll eventually pay. If the gate keeper wants to know what the subject mattter is- be truthful and tell him/her along term relationship with a mutliple car purchase. Is he/she interested? keep your tone and demeanor calm.
When you get some face time with this owner, explain the problem, remind them of why you bought the car and why you bought it from this dealer, leave all the crap, BS, & emotion outside. Explain that you did follow protocal and excelation process. And that is why your are here prior to going to the lawyer- you wish to give the dealer one last chance to reconcile a matter of a new car and very pissed off customer who happens to now a lot of potential customers in the area. Most business owners are willing to settle problems, even directly with the consumer-PROVIDED the're given opportunity in a private setting and presented with all the facts. Make sure you names, titles and dates you spoke with people. Again leave emotion and hardship outside- this is 2 professionals speaking to each other. If that doesn't work....remind him that this leaves you no choice than to call an lawyer. Wait 2 days-then the gloves are off at that point- consider a full page add in small local paper explaining your problem and HOW he handled it when confronted face to face. He the owner will hate hearing about it, especially months later on the golf course from friends and associates- if you catch my drift. good luck!
