I called them as soon as I'd read your analysis. They accepted that it was a valid suggestion and have agreed to take the car in once more and check this. Their workshop manager tried to make me feel really guilty though by making it clear that the dealership wouldn't be reimbursed by Saab for any work done on such a fault and that I should be grateful for their time! He also advised me that his offer to look at it once more was on condition that I didn't take this as any guarantee that he would actually be able to resolve it. I don't understand any of this. The car's only 14 months old (new in July 2000), and I would have thought that Saab's warranty would cover clunks and groans that clearly shouldn't be there. What's more the workshop manager is apparently a Saab Master Technician, so I kind of expected him to be a little more enthusiastic. Anyway, it doesn't sound like a serious problem and it's clearly a common one. So we'll see next Thursday how they shape up. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again,
Regards,
Harley
