My advice would be :
get the pc mod done. I did it myself for no cost, but felt that Saab should have at least supplied the parts, which they would not. $ 250 is high for a problem which whether in or out of warranty I feel Saab should pay for, as they botched the PCV design.
Prior to doing the PCV mod I had the timing cover leak, and it got nothing but worse. I think some here have said that the rib or something was incorrectly mfg , but high crankcase pressure can also blow out seals.this leak was repaired under warranty, it is a major repair. After this repair my main crank seal began to leak, car was now out of warranty. But I then did the PCV mod which has greatly alleviated the leak, at times it is completely dormant.
So I suspect that on some I4 engines excessive crank pressure has blown seals, likely the root cause being an improperly designed PCV seal.
I'd go directly to Saab and seek help with the repairs. They are clearly a troubled firm but should bear some responsibilty for helping an owner with repairs that can be directly tied to poorly designed systems in the auto. If they refuse to help, you can understand why some owners will not be repeat buyers.
I've been happy with settlements over issues I've had, but like anything else you do have to know how to work the system and find out who can get things done for you, it is clearly not your dealership.
