The V6 is based upon the Vauxhall V6, not the Opel and is very reliable as is the 4. There is a website that lists the recall notices and service bulletins for all cars sold in the US. There are actually slightly more for the 4 than the V6, but both have significantly fewer than other cars in their price range. If your driving is mainly going to be around town with occasionalm runs on Eastern toll roads, the 4 will serve you fine. If your driving is going to include a lot of Western freeways and interstates with high speed churning, the significantly higher torque of the V6 across the speed range becomes important. The V6 has 11% higher peak torque, but more importantly, 13% more torque at 5000 rpm, 11% more torque at 4000rpm, 11% higher torque at 3000rpm, and 9% higher torque at 2000rpm. I averaged over 28mpg on a trip around the Southwest ( sea level to circ 10,000 feet) this summer which isn't too shabby.
