... try listening to some jazz or rock with some good tight drum and bass passages at moderate or loud volume settings and you'll notice the difference...Remember, this is a preamp gain setting, so keeping it at the default of 9 is a waste of the systems potential. It's sort of like driving a 230 hp car vs a 150 hp car.. in that most of the time you may not really notice the difference, but when you hit/push it, the reserve you need is there... In musical terms, low end bass and loud dynamic passages (i.e. cymbal crash, symphonic crescendo, etc...) is what pushes your system.. and that's where that extra power reserve will be noticed the most.. allowing your system to "breathe", given it a more open spacious, cleaner sound.
I'm not sure why the systems come shipped with 9 as the default setting.. I wonder if it has anything to do with the settings required by the non-premium setup, which use lower powered amplifiers ???
Secondly.. the startup volume of 24 doesn't mean your system will start up at 24... it simply means that the next time you turn your system on, its volume setting will be whatever it was set at when you last turned it off, with 24 being the loudest setting it will start at...
