confirm this ? Not sure whether this $4,000 is regional or nation wide. I live NJ so I think maybe in the northeast region ??
I walked into my fav Saab dealer and intended to see some leftover 2001 and asked about any incentives on 2002 cars. The salesman said it's $4,000 as model introduction incentive, NO ownership loyalty of $1,000.
You get the usual $5,000 + $1,000 ownership thing for 2001.
He baited me to drive a 9-5 Linear with the premium package and auto. So I spent about 15 minutes driving around the block. I can tell you the 5-speed auto is a great box to have. Even in standard mode, the car is really responsive belying it's humble 2.3LPT engine. There is absolutely no torque steer. The car doesn't sway and lean as in earlier models. The minus is that the usual 4 cylinder vibration is still there and it's a bit noiser than say a 2002 A6.
Before I departed, the salesman gave me a number of $32K and change for a 2002 9-5 Linear with premium package and autobox.
I think with the incentive, the 9-5 Linear is quite competitive in its class but not outstanding. You get a little bit more equipment say in an I35 or Acura TL-S at approximately the same price. The A6 is about 10K more but you get more in the form of Quattro or CVT.
