I left the office today and noticed that my left front tire was very low. Checked pressure, 15 psi. No good. Put some air in and drove to the tire shop where the p/o had recently purchased the tires (I just bought this car two weeks ago). Figured it was a flat needing fixed. Wrong.
Turns out the steel belt is poking through the sidewall (or so I was told - having never seen this, can someone confirm?). To make things worse, apparently the warranty coverage on the tire doesn't transfer owners?!
The tires are Pirelli PZero System Asymmetrico - 225/45ZR17, 91Y. 9mo/10k miles old. They're at about 7/32 remaining tread. I'm thinking I should replace as a pair, leave them on front for a while, and keep the extra tire for a full size spare (maybe I can find a steel wheel somewhere?)
Should I get another pair of asymmetricos (at ~200 apiece!), or maybe go with the PZero Nero (94Y, 220 treadwear vs. 140) for slightly less? I assume I should keep relatively similar tires on there?
And I was just starting to enjoy my new car... rats.
