Went to Discount Tire this morning. They didn't have the System Asymmetrico, so I ended up with a pair of the Rosso Asymmetricos. Very similar, same Z and 91Y ratings, treadwear 220 vs. 140, different tread pattern. I think it should be ok? DT is going to pursue a warranty claim with Pirelli for the bad tire, so hopefully I'll get some of the $473 (ouch!) back. I have a couple questions maybe someone can help me on.
1) I noticed on tirerack that the tire diameter for the Rosso is slightly different than the System, yielding 833 revs/mile vs. 824. How does this work? Will I always be skidding, or getting weird wear patterns? Do I need to calibrate my speedo/odo?
2) I put the new tires on front, against DT's advice. I understand why if a tire is questionable you'd rather have it front vs. rear, but if I've got ample tread (8/32") on the "old" tires, shouldn't I put the new ones up front and even things out?
3) I kept the spare good tire - plan to find an extra wheel and make a full size spare. Any suggestions for a source?
Cheers,
'Roo
